On Jan 27, 2018, Bruce Hellebrand announced that Larry Riggs had been appointed to the board, replacing Bob Messi, who had resigned in January.
Board members were elected immediately following the July 2017 meeting. The next election will be in July 2018. Sadly, board member Marvin Mackey passed away on October 3, 2017. His obituary takes a look back at his life.
At the November 9, 2017, board meeting, the board appointed L.J. Fay, per the association's Bylaws, to serve out the remainder of Marv's term. She has agreed to serve as association secretary, which had been Marvin's position.
Board's Authority to Appoint a New Member
The Bylaws give the directors the authority to appoint a new member to the board. Section 7.5 (a) and (f) address this issue and are shown below:
Staggered Terms in Effect
Section 7.3, Term of Office, of the Bylaws that were approved on Mar 8, 2011, states, "... Directors shall be elected to a term of two (2) years to replace those Directors whose terms are expiring."
Mark, Marvin, and Bob were elected at the July 13, 2017, election to serve 2-year terms. L.J. Fay now serves in Marvin's place.
Bruce and Kathy were elected at the July 14, 2016, election and are serving 2-year terms.
